Candle

Descriptions of an alternate reality

Are draped across the television screen

Luminaries in their black Armani suits

Preparing glamorous Hollywood scenes

And as I sit back and watch, I can’t help but notice

That they’re not too different from me

But if I’m ever gonna follow their lead

I need to shake this fit of mediocrity

It’s like a candle stuck inside of a box

That’s surrounded by gasoline

I can’t handle the pressures of knowing

That there’s a barrier stopping me

So I’ll ramble, like an Allman man

Try to knock these walls to the ground

Take a gamble, jump in head-first

Try to burn the whole thing down

They say it’s one in a million

But that’s not really true

If nobody else takes a chance

They’ve got no chance compared to you

So if the ordinary people try to tell you that you can’t

Look them dead in the eye

And tell them that you’re holding out for something better

And you won’t settle for a dime

Cause you’re a candle, stuck inside of a box

That’s surrounded by gasoline

I can’t handle the pressures of knowing

That there’s a barrier stopping me

So I’ll ramble, like an Allman man

Try to knock these walls to the ground

Take a gamble, jump in head-first

Try to burn the whole thing down

It’s like a candle stuck inside of a box

That’s surrounded by gasoline

I can’t handle the pressures of knowing

That there’s a barrier stopping me

So I’ll ramble, like an Allman man

Try to knock these walls to the ground

Take a gamble, jump in head-first

Try to burn the whole thing down

It’s like a candle

I can’t handle

So I’ll ramble

Take a gamble

It’s like a candle
